Sony Music Box

When Sony built their new European headquarters they decided to include a small amusement park based on music. The signs and murals needed to excite and distinguish each attraction while reflecting the feature of the exhibit.

T

here are two aspects of this project that I grew from. One was having to work in metrics. As the amusement park was to be built in Germany all the designs had to not only be produced in scale but also in metrics.

The second was winning the competition for the entry mural. Most designers and illustrators at Spectra Entertainment had presented proposals. Originally my plan was to create realistic renderings of instruments, but I tired of that idea as it proved to be a very expected mural. I pushed the mural to the abstract in two ways, first by removing all curved lines, and secondly by using a more playful color pallet.
